Black Beauty - Scented Book Candle
Anna Sewell broke literary ground in writing Black Beauty, her only novel published by telling the story of a horses’ life in the form of an autobiography and describing the world through the eyes of the horse.
Black Beauty was an instant success and Sewell was able to witness her book become an immediate best seller, prior to her passing, with the book having sold over 50 million copies in the world and translated into 50 different languages. But more importantly, Black Beauty has impacted animal rights, animal welfare and have been an impetus for anti-animal cruelty legislation in the United States.
“I have heard men say that seeing is believing; but I should say that feeling is believing; for much as I had seen before, I never knew till now the utter misery of a cab-horse's life.”
The Feeling is Believing scent will inspire along with Sewell’s message of kindness and compassion, and putting ourselves in others’ shoes. To feel and empathize what others go through, animal or people to end pain and suffering, and believing that kindness and love goes a long way.
This scent is an alluring balance of tart and sweet. Red currant and zesty lemon peel combine with airy ozone before giving way to a botanical heart of juniper and geranium. Black currant and just a hint of peppermint in the base reinforce the tart freshness.
Anna Sewell wrote Black Beauty as a book “to induce kindness, sympathy, and an understanding treatment of horses,” having herself left crippled from a childhood accident where she remained dependent on carriage horses as her main source of mobility.
Available in Feeling is Believing scent and the Original Library scent.
