The first volume of Louisa Alcott's Little Women begins and ends with Christmas and is often considered a Christmas story. It is a great way, in fact, to peak into the American Christmas through the eyes of the author, all the way back in the 1860s.

It might even seem like it was a much pleasant and simpler Christmas back then, without media competing with each other in ads and Holiday programming. Christmas was not so Christmassy, yet homey and comfy, smelling of cinnamon, orange peel, and cookies.

How to measure for accurate sizing

Follow this guide to measure your body accurately using a cloth measuring tape.

For Kids:

1. Bust: Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape snug but not tight.

2. Length: Measure from the top of the shoulder down to the desired length.

3. Shoulder: Measure from one shoulder seam across to the other.

4. Sleeve: Start at the shoulder seam and measure down to the wrist.


For Adults – Men:

1. Bust: Measure around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms and around the shoulder blades.

2. Length: Measure from the highest point of the shoulder (near the neck) to the bottom of the shirt or hoodie.

3. Shoulder: Measure across the back, from the edge of one shoulder to the other.

4. Sleeve: Measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the wrist, with the arm slightly bent.


For Adults – Women:

1. Bust: Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape comfortably loose.

2. Length: Measure from the top of the shoulder to the hem of the shirt or hoodie.

3. Shoulder: Measure across the back from shoulder seam to shoulder seam.

4. Sleeve: Measure from the shoulder seam to the wrist, with the arm slightly bent.
